Police Officer Minimum Requirements

A minimum of 45 college credit hours and basic certification are preferred. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record. Five years of experience in law enforcement is preferred.

Physical & Environmental Conditions

Employees might be exposed to possibly dangerous criminals on a daily basis. Employees must work in extreme temperatures and may be exposed to chemicals and diseases. Sufficient physical ability to bend, run, lift and crawl into small spaces. Must be able to restrain suspects. Must be able to patrol in a police vehicle.

Compensation

  • Police Officer $75,011.85 to $95,726.72 per year
  • Education Pay and Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certification pay
  • $150 per month for Police Officer Expert Pay
  • Retirement Benefits with Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 7% employee contribution and 2:1 City match
