Occasionally, depending on workload, the Board of Adjustment will meet more than or less than once a month. The Board holds public hearings to consider requests for variances to the University Park Zoning Ordinance and appeals to decisions made by the Community Development Department.

Objective
The Board of Adjustment is a statutory body comprised of five regular members and three alternate members. It is a quasi-judicial body with jurisdiction to hear and decide appeals of determinations made by the Building Official, special exceptions to the terms of the Zoning Ordinance and special exceptions to the terms of the Sign Ordinance. All meetings are open public hearings.
Make a Request
The Board holds public hearings to consider requests for variances to the University Park Zoning Ordinance and appeals to decisions made by the Community Development Department.
All requests must be accompanied by the following:
- A completed Board of Adjustment Application (PDF)
- Two complete sets of plans (24 by 36 inches) and one complete set of plans (11 by 17 inches)
- Electronic version of complete set of plans; flash drive is acceptable; content and type of plans will be determined by staff after preliminary project review
- $500 filing fee
Once the application and submittal have been determined to be in accordance with City requirements, the request will be placed on the next available Board of Adjustment Agenda and an advertisement of public hearing will be made. Applications must be received at least 30 days prior to the meeting date. Filing deadlines can be found on the meeting schedule.
