Get a Library Card
To obtain a library card, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the library's Borrowing Policy
You can create a library account in person or by completing a patron registration form online.
Once you have completed the online registration form, you will be contacted via email with instructions to finalize your registration.
Library cards are valid for three years. At the end of that period patrons must renew their card either in person or online.
To renew your card online, send an email with the subject "Card Renewal" to Email: Card Renewal
In the email, attach an image of your photo ID and include your name and library card number in the body of the email.
If additional information is needed, a staff member will reach out to you via email.
Your library account number is the 14-digit number on the back of your library card (no spaces between digits). Your PIN is the last four digits of your library card number. You can change the pin in the "My Account" area of the Library's Online Catalog. You need the full number and the PIN to gain access to the Library's electronic resources.
TexShare is a two-pronged program offered by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to library patrons throughout Texas. The card program provides for a reciprocal library card between participating Texas libraries.
Patrons of the UP Public Library can obtain a TexShare card and use it at any other participating library in Texas. Cards will be issued, in person, to any patron in good standing. The card expires after 12 months and must be reissued.
Not a patron? Registered users of participating Texas libraries can obtain a TexShare Card from their home institution and use the card to borrow materials directly from UP Public Library and other participating libraries.
