The Miracle Mile Improvements Project is progressing and is still on track to finish on time! Lovers Lane paving is finished, along with the Douglas/Lovers intersection.

4500 Block (north) Construction Begins in January 2026

Weather permitting, crews are expected to move into the 4500 block during the week of January 5.

The north side of the 4500 block of Lovers Lane will be closed to all vehicular traffic for the duration of this work. See below map for traffic pattern during this phase, which is expected to take 4 to 6 weeks, weather permitting.

Traffic control devices will be in place to help vehicular traffic and pedestrians travel through the area safely. The sidewalks immediately adjacent to the buildings will be open for access to all businesses while the work on the parking area is taking place. Later in this phase, crews will begin demo on the sidewalks adjacent to the buildings, but access to business doors will always be available during business hours.

Golf Cart Shuttle Service

A new golf cart shuttle service is now available on Lovers Lane, to help you navigate construction. As of January 5, shuttle hours will be from 8 to 11 a.m. in the morning and 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the evening, Monday through Saturday. The shuttle offers door-to-door service for any business along Lovers Lane between Douglas and Dallas North Tollway. If you can’t find parking in front of the business you are visiting, use the public parking spots at the Scotland Yard baseball field or at Lot 4141 on Lovers Lane, then call or text 469-515-4701 to request a ride. Take advantage of this convenient option and come support our local businesses! Reminder, all businesses are OPEN during construction!

Additional Parking Options During Construction

The City has identified additional parking areas where business patrons and tenants can park. The locations below highlight the following parking options. We are also actively working to secure additional parking with private property owners in the immediate area.

  • West side of Lomo Alto Drive south of Lovers until Druid
  • 4141 Lovers lot
  • Parking spaces on Lovers at Scotland Yard

Construction Particulars/Advisories

  • At each street, construction will involve utility removal and replacement, pavement and sidewalk removal and replacement, electrical and drainage work, and closures with traffic detours.
  • When a street is closed for construction, there will be no vehicle access in that block until work is completed on that particular street section.
  • Sidewalk access will remain open for pedestrians to move through the area and for business access. There will be wayfinding signs in place, and a construction fence separating the work area from the sidewalk.
  • Alley access will remain open, and trash and recycle schedules will remain the same. Businesses are advised to please use the alleys for deliveries.
  • Throughout construction, please adhere to all detours, barricades, fences, and signage. Construction areas will sometimes be marked by paint on the sidewalk and in-ground construction stakes, please do not disturb them. Do not walk through, or allow children to play in, the construction site.
  • If you see something of concern, please call the University Park Police Department.

Project Background

The Miracle Mile improvements project, a collaborative effort with Dallas County, aims to enhance infrastructure and public spaces in our community. With Dallas County funding 50% of the project and additional improvements planned by the City of Dallas on the west side of the tollway, the initiative includes roadway, sidewalk, traffic signal, and landscaping upgrades, with designs set for completion in the fourth quarter of 2024. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2025. These enhancements will improve traffic flow, alleviate congestion, and increase total parking spaces, ensuring a more functional and attractive area for residents and visitors alike.
