Elena’s Children’s Park
Overview
Located at 2900 Hanover, Elena's Children's Park was inspired by the life of Mary Elena Franklin, who was born on September 4, 1993, and died tragically in an automobile accident on August 2, 1997. Elena, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, three-year-old, who loved to pick flowers, united this community in a spirit of love.
Neighbors and local leaders with a vision were joined by friends of the Franklin family and University Park residents to create a city park dedicated to all Park Cities families who have lost a child. More than 500 families, corporations, and foundations contributed to the creation of this park, making it truly a community effort. The dream of this park would not have been realized without the leadership and cooperation of the University Park City Council, Parks and Recreation Department, and City staff.
Elena's Children's Park has been created as a special place to go to contemplate our love - and God's love - for our children. It is a green space where we can celebrate their lives and reflect on treasured memories. May all visitors to this park know that the goodness of our children does not perish but lives on eternally.
There are no restrooms available at this park site.
