About 1:45 p.m. Friday, September 30, a man approached a female patron as she was walking to her car parked near the Snider Plaza CVS. The suspect showed a handgun, which was later determined to be fake, and demanded her vehicle. Several Snider Plaza patrons witnessed the incident, called 911 and assisted the victim by blocking the exit of the suspect. UPPD officers responded quickly, and the suspect, 20-year-old Jose Ignacio Ramirez was taken into custody. The woman was not injured in the incident. UPPD detectives continue to work the case to determine if the suspect is connected to additional local crimes.
